Central Business District Construction Concludes for the Year

Central Business District Construction Concludes for the year December 21, 2009.

Elgin - Phase III of the Central Business District’s $40 million Street Resurfacing and Streetscape Project is again underway as the City of Elgin continues to work toward the revitalization of its downtown area.

Streetscape

Phase 3 construction has concluded for the season with the exception of the brick paver installation which is taking place on Symphony Way and some minor work remaining to be done on the south side of Division Street. Weather permitting, it is the contractor’s plan to have all brick pavers in place before the end of the year. Work is also being done on sign installation on Friday, December 18, 2009 and, if necessary, will finish up on Monday, December 21.

Work on installation of the brick paver crosswalks is scheduled to begin in April 2010.

Watermain

Phase 4 of the Central Business District improvements has also shut down for the season. Work on water main installation will begin again in the spring as weather permits.

Phase 4 work includes Highland Avenue from Riverside Drive to Center Street; Spring Street from Highland Avenue to Division Street and Center Street from Kimball Street to Dundee Avenue.
