How long is construction of the Central Business District going to take?
Five (5) construction stages have been identified as part of the Central Business District Street Resurfacing and Streetscape Program. Underground utility, watermain, and sewer upgrades are scheduled to be completed in the Fall of each year, with the surface streetscape, roadway, lighting, and other “visible” work to be completed the following Spring. The completion of the entire staged project is slated for the end of the 2011 construction season.

Why is there construction on my street?
The City of Elgin is currently replacing watermain and other underground utilities to the older downtown Central Business District as part of its 5-year Central Business District Street Resurfacing and Streetscape Program.

How do I get to a business when a street is closed?
